Leicester City has poached head of recruitment Lee Congerton (R) from Celtic
Leicester agreed to pay compensation for releasing him from his contract with Celtic, who were afraid to keep Congerton.
However, it is understood that he was adamant that he wanted to be frustrated immediately by the lack of investment and a restrictive approach to recruiting new talent.
Congerton came under criticism from supporters during his time at Celtic, but Rodgers defended himself aware of how difficult it had become to attract the quality of players they didn't want.
The Celtic statement read: & # 39; Lee Congerton resigns from his position as Head of Recruitment of & # 39; a club to take up new opportunities.
& # 39; The existing staff in & # 39; The Celtic Scouting and Recruitment Department will continue to work closely with club management to identify players who can benefit the club.
& # 39; The club has already begun the process of appointing a new head of recruitment, something that will be completed as soon as possible. & # 39;
Congerton, 45, has worked at Liverpool, Chelsea, Hamburg, Sunderland and Celtic
Congerton joined Celtic in March 2017 after Rodgers was named manager last summer.
Like Rodgers, the former Crewe Alexandra player ended his career on the field early due to an injury, and he initially moved with Wrexham.
Congerton worked at Liverpool before moving to Chelsea, where he became head scout, while Rodgers coached at Stamford Bridge. He has also served as technical director at Hamburg and athletic director at Sunderland.
Leicester had been looking for a new head of recruitment ahead of the summer transfer window after Eduardo Macia left the club in March.
